Interested in sharing your experience and perspectives as an individual living with Geographic Atrophy (GA) or age-related macular degeneration (AMD)?
Geographic Atrophy Advisor Opportunity
Geographic Atrophy (or GA) is an advanced form of age-related macular degeneration (or AMD) that can cause gradual loss of central vision.
A global pharmaceutical company interested in serving patients impacted by eye conditions is seeking to better understand and learn what matters most to people living with GA secondary to AMD. Hearing from individuals with lived experience helps guide more meaningful patient education, care, and future treatment development.
VOZ Advisors is a boutique consulting firm working with pharmaceutical and biotech companies to foster greater collaboration between those developing treatments and patient communities.
On behalf of the global pharmaceutical company, VOZ invites patients and patient advocates living with GA to provide their expertise as advisors in a Geographic Atrophy Patient Advisory Council. If selected as an advisor, you will be asked to participate in virtual discussions to provide feedback on various topics based on your lived experiences with GA. Participation involves a limited number of virtual sessions (via Zoom) and online-based survey(s), with no travel required.
The only experience needed to participate is experience living with GA. Individuals must be 50 years of age or older and have received a diagnosis of GA from a healthcare provider. Those living with GA in one or both eyes are welcome to participate. If you have AMD but not GA, you are still welcome to take the screener survey; we will keep your information on file and reach out about other opportunities that could be a good fit for you in the future. Advisors will be compensated for their time in line with the country fair market value policy via bank transfer.
We are committed to making every effort to ensure the engagement is accessible to all participants including people who have low vision. This includes providing materials in larger fonts, high-contrast formats, and offering guidance on using the virtual platform. Please note, however, that participating virtually does require use of technology including use of Zoom.
If interested, please complete a short screener survey securely linked here.
After completion of the survey, you may be contacted by someone from VOZ Advisors to schedule a 30-minute screening call via Zoom to answer any questions you may have and discuss your fit as a potential advisor. Please note that only a limited number of participants will be selected.
What personal data will be collected during screening?
During the Screening, your personal data will be collected by VOZ Advisors in order to evaluate you as a potential patient advisor for patient engagement activities. The personal data that will be collected includes your contact information, and information you share about your condition, including your experience of the condition, diagnosis, treatment, unmet needs of the patient community, meaningful outcomes, and considerations for designing patient-friendly clinical trials. Additionally, VOZ Advisors will collect information about your race, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation to help ensure that the patient advisors reflect a diverse patient population.
What happens with my personal data?
If you decide to participate in the Screening, your personal data, including information about your race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation and physical and mental health, will be processed (e.g. collected, used, disclosed, stored, and disposed) by VOZ Advisors. The data you provide will be shared with the sponsor company to determine if you are a good fit for this patient engagement activity.
Your personal data will be retained by VOZ Advisors for the period of time necessary to identify patients diagnosed with GA or AMD for the patient engagement activities. After this period, your personal data will be securely destroyed.
Your rights regarding your personal data:
You have the right to request access to your personal data, request corrections of any errors in recorded personal data, or where personal data may be missing or incomplete ask that it be completed. You also have the right to ask that your personal data collected and used for the Screening to be erased or that its use be.
We do not retain personal information longer than is necessary for us to achieve the purposes for which we collected it. If you are not a good fit for this project, we will destroy your information. When we destroy your personal information, we do so in a way that prevents that information from being restored or reconstructed.
